Competent Cells

Range of Chemically and Electrocompetrent cells for your molecular cloning needs

Overview of the range

CopyCutter™ EPI400™ Electrocompetent and Chemically Competent E. coli

Highly stable and competent cells for unstable DNA and keeping low copy numbers

CopyCutter™ EPI400™ E.coli* cells were developed to significantly lower the copy number of a wide variety of common vectors so that you can more readily clone unstable DNA sequences. DNA that is unstable at high-copy number often codes for a protein that inhibits cell growth or contains AT- and GC-rich sequences or sequences with strong secondary structure. The CopyCutter™ EPI400™ cell line was derived from our high-transformation efficiency phage T1-resistant TransforMax™ EC100™ E. coli strain by manipulating a gene that controls the copy number of vectors containing ColE1 or pMB1 origins of replication (e.g., pUC- and pET-type vectors).

TransforMax™ EC100™ Electrocompetent  and Chemically Competent E. coli

Highly competent cells for general cloning applications

Clone large inserts and transform large plasmids - up to at least 145 kb plasmid DNA.
Achieve high efficiencies with convenient chemically competent format: >5 × 108 cfu/µg pUC19 DNA.
Ideal for cloning, subcloning and plasmid preparation due to endA and recA mutations.

TransforMax™ EPI300™ Electrocompetent and Chemically Competent E. coli

Compentent cells for standard cloning for large inserts and Gibson assembly electroporation

Clone large inserts and transform large plasmids - up to at least 145 kb plasmid DNA.
Generate clones with inducible copy number using CopyControl™ vectors.
Achieve high transformation efficiencies: >1 × 1010 cfu/µg pUC19 DNA.
Increase Gibson Assembly® colony counts with high-efficiency electroporation.
