Description

Human serum albumin is the most abundant protein in human blood plasma. It is produced in the liver. Albumin constitutes about half of the blood serum protein. It is soluble and monomeric.  Albumin transports hormones, fatty acids, and other compounds, buffers pH, and maintains osmotic pressure, among other functions.

This aptamer was selected by scientists at Base Pair Biotechnologies using proprietary methods, library, and HSA protein, [Sigma Cat# A9511] as a target and 1X PBS, 1 mM MgCl2, and 0.05% Tween-20 in nuclease free water, pH 7.4.  Let us know if you have any questions about its development or potential uses.

Antibody Equivalent Units (AEU).  There is a  large molecular weight difference in antibodies (typically 150,000 Da) and Base Pair’s aptamers (~14,000 Da).   We provide our aptamers in terms of moles, where the aptamer moles in 1  AEU is equal to antibody moles in the typical 100 microgram shipment from a leading antibody vendor. Therefore our standard 2.5 AEU (25ug) or 5 AEU (50ug) delivery is 2.5 and 5 times the equivalent moles of a standard antibody delivery of 100 microgram respectively

Notes

Please note that aptamers have much lower molecular weights than antibodies. Thus, there are typically five to fifteen times as many moles or molecules of aptamers present in a solution containing an equal mass. For example, 100 micrograms of an aptamer is equivalent to 0.5 to 1.5 mg of antibody, depending on the particular aptamer.
